THE STUDIO

Independent thinking. Thoughtful creative work that gets results.

I’ve always been interested in how people and brands are perceived…

Not just how something looks, but how it lands. What people notice first. What they remember afterward. How a photograph, a headline, a website, or even a single sentence can change someone’s impression of a business they’ve never encountered before.

I’ve spent much of my career thinking about those details. Sometimes from a public relations perspective, sometimes through brand strategy, and increasingly through design.

The interesting part is how much they have in common.

I didn’t start in design. I arrived there.

My background is in public relations, marketing, and communications. For years, I worked on the visibility side of business: developing positioning, shaping narratives, building reputations, and helping brands become known for something.

Over time, I became more involved in the creative decisions behind that visibility. The websites. The visual identities. The editorial direction. How a brand presented itself before anyone had a chance to explain it.

I kept encountering the same problem.

A business could have a strong reputation, a clear audience, and an excellent product, but its website looked like something it had outgrown five years earlier. Another could have beautiful branding and absolutely no sense of what made it different from everyone else.

Sometimes the designer understood the aesthetics but not the business. Sometimes the strategist understood the market but had little involvement in how the brand actually looked. Neither approach made much sense to me.

I wanted to work across both.

That’s how Marquet Media came to be, not as a traditional design studio or a public relations agency, but as an independent consultancy where strategy, communications, creative direction, and digital design inform one another.

The work is never just about how something looks.

A website is often someone’s first introduction to a business. Before they read the founder’s credentials, examine the services, or decide whether to inquire, they’ve already formed an impression.

The same is true of a brand identity, an editorial feature, a campaign, or a company’s public positioning. Every decision communicates something.

I approach projects with that in mind. Who is this business trying to reach? What does its audience already believe? What should feel familiar, and what should feel different? Does the visual presentation support the reputation the business is trying to build?

Those questions matter just as much as the typography, photography, and layout.

My work spans brand positioning, marketing and communications strategy, creative and editorial direction, and website and UI/UX design. I work primarily with founders and businesses in fashion, beauty, jewelry, wellness, luxury, thought leadership, and professional services.

Some clients come with an established business that needs a more sophisticated identity. Others have a strong concept but need help translating it into something people can understand, recognize, and trust.

The starting point may be different. The attention to detail isn’t.

The background behind the work.

I earned a master’s degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from New York University and later pursued advanced coursework in machine learning and artificial intelligence at MIT.

I’ve also studied neuropsychology, an interest that grew naturally out of my communications work. I’ve always wanted to understand why people respond to certain ideas, images, and messages—and why others are so easily forgotten.

Technology has added another dimension to that question. Search engines, recommendation systems, and AI increasingly influence which brands people discover and how information is presented. But technology doesn’t replace the human side of perception. It makes understanding both even more important.

Over the past 17 years, my career has included brand development, public relations, publishing, digital media, and creative work. I’ve written two Amazon bestselling books, appeared on more than 35 digital magazine covers, and designed and built more than 25 websites.

I’ve also built my own businesses and editorial platforms, including FemFounder, Kristin K. Marquet, and The Measured. Those projects give me something I consider particularly valuable: the experience of making creative and commercial decisions for businesses I actually own.

I understand the difference between recommending an idea and having to live with the result.

A boutique studio. A more involved approach.

Marquet Media is deliberately independent.

I don’t believe every project needs a large team, a complicated process, or months of presentations before anything meaningful happens.

I prefer working closely with a small team and a limited number of clients, understanding their businesses properly, and staying involved in the decisions that shape the finished work.

That might mean refining the positioning before touching the website, questioning a creative direction that looks beautiful but doesn’t suit the audience, or making a seemingly small change because it changes how the entire brand is perceived.

I’m interested in the details, but never at the expense of the bigger picture.

The goal isn’t to make every brand look the same kind of expensive, polished, or fashionable.

It’s to make each one look and sound like itself, at its best.
